1. Who is responsible for your information?

Palau Dive Adventures is responsible for the personal information described in this statement.

Privacy questions and requests can be sent to:

Palau Dive Adventures
Medalaii, Koror
Palau 96940
Email: reservations@palaudiveadventures.com

The address above is our mailing and correspondence address.

2. What information do we collect?

Depending on how you use our website or services, we may collect:

We do not ask you to submit sensitive personal information through the Travel Guide form.

3. Why do we use your information?

Delivering requested information

When you request the Scuba Diver’s Travel Guide to Palau, we use your email address and, when supplied, your name to deliver the guide and record that the request was fulfilled. This requested delivery is separate from marketing consent.

Optional Travel Guide emails and other marketing

If you actively select the optional marketing checkbox, we use your information to send five weekly Palau trip-planning emails and occasional Palau Dive Adventures news and offers. The checkbox is optional and unchecked by default. You can withdraw consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email or contacting us.

Downloading the guide without selecting the checkbox does not give us permission to send these marketing emails. Withdrawing marketing consent does not stop us from responding to a new request you make or sending service messages needed for an existing booking.

Enquiries, quotes and bookings

We use information you send us to answer questions, prepare quotes, plan requested services, administer reservations and provide customer support.

Website operation, security and measurement

We use limited technical information to operate and secure the website, prevent misuse, diagnose errors and understand how our website performs. Where local law requires consent for analytics or advertising cookies, we ask before using them.

Legal and business administration

We may process information to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements, establish or defend legal claims, protect our guests and business, or respond to lawful requests from authorities.

4. Our legal grounds

Where the GDPR, UK GDPR or similar law applies, we rely on one or more of the following grounds:

We do not rely on the Travel Guide download itself as consent for optional marketing.

5. Who helps us process your information?

We use service providers that process information on our instructions, including:

We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect legal rights or safety, or as part of a genuine business reorganisation. We do not sell your personal information. We do not give your information to third parties for their own independent email marketing without your permission.

6. International transfers

Palau Dive Adventures and some of our service providers may process information in countries outside the country where you live. Data-protection standards can differ between countries.

Where European data-protection law applies to a transfer, we use an approved transfer mechanism where required, such as an adequacy decision or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, together with additional safeguards when appropriate. You can contact us for more information about the safeguards relevant to your information.

7. How long do we keep information?

We keep information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected, subject to legal, accounting, security and dispute-resolution needs.

For the Travel Guide journey, our intended retention periods are:

Booking, payment, tax, accounting, safety and dispute records may need to be retained for different periods. We apply the longest period that is genuinely required when more than one purpose applies.

8. Email choices and suppression

Every optional marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. We also support email-provider one-click unsubscribe requests. Unsubscribe requests are applied to future marketing messages as soon as reasonably possible.

We also stop marketing when an email provider reports a hard bounce, spam complaint or suppression. A later request for the Travel Guide does not automatically reactivate a suppressed marketing journey. Where an address is known to be unusable, we may also be unable to deliver the requested guide.

9. Cookies and similar technologies

The website may use essential cookies needed for security and operation and, subject to your choices and applicable law, analytics or advertising technologies. Our cookie notice should explain the current tools, purposes and choices. You can also control cookies through your browser, although blocking essential cookies may affect website operation.

10. Your rights

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have the right to:

To make a request, email reservations@palaudiveadventures.com. We may ask for limited information to verify your identity before releasing or changing personal information. Where GDPR-style rights apply, we normally respond within one month and will tell you if a lawful extension is needed.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may also contact the data-protection authority that is competent where you live or work, where applicable. Please contact us first if you are comfortable doing so, so we have an opportunity to resolve the concern.

11. Children

Our website and Travel Guide journey are intended for adults planning travel or diving services. We do not knowingly use the Travel Guide form to collect personal information from children.

12. Security

We use reasonable organisational and technical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No online service is completely secure, so please do not send sensitive information through an ordinary website form or unencrypted email unless we specifically request it through an appropriate channel.

13. Changes to this statement

We may update this statement when our services, providers or legal obligations change. The current version will show its effective date. Material changes to the Travel Guide marketing scope will require a new consent notice rather than silently expanding an earlier consent.
